More families opting for Air India Express, claims official

Doha : An increasing number of Indian families travelling home are now opting for Air India Express, the low-cost airline that recently launched flights from Doha to various Indian destinations.
The airline currently offers flights to five major destinations in India including the three busiest routes in the southern state of Kerala- Calicut, Kochi and Trivandrum. Mumbai and Mangalore are the other two destinations.
The airline was the first to operate direct flights from Doha to Mangalore, in the state of Karnataka, catering to the large number of expatriates haling from that city and neighbouring localities.
"We have about 75 per cent occupancy in all flights to Kerala and about 60 per cent in our Mangalore flights," a senior official of the company told The Peninsula yesterday.
He said, the number of family passengers is on the rise, especially with the onset of the peak summer season.
