Commending the heartening growth in civil aviation ties between India and Singapore, the Civil Aviation Minister said that the number of flights between the two countries has seen a tremendous growth. Singapore has the highest number of flights to and from India. The Minister expressed his wish to take this cooperation even further.
Speaking about the ASEAN Open Skies, Shri Patel said that airport infrastructure is one of the constraints in making the Indian skies more open and liberalized. The Indian Government would also like to redefine the air traffic pattern within the country which till very recently had been concentrated between Mumbai and Delhi. The Government’s recent efforts have been to redistribute air traffic patterns and make sure that other cities across the country also build up air traffic volumes effectively for an equitable distribution of economic development in the country.
