Visakhapatnam: The Air Travellers' Association (India) urged Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to take initiatives to develop Visakhapatnam Airport into an all-day and all-weather airport.
Speaking to newspersons here last night, Association President D Varada Reddy said the new runway had been provided with night-landing and Instrument Landing System (ILS) facilities. The new terminal, under construction, was expected to be operational in a year or so.
He urged the Chief Minister to impress upon Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel to upgrade the Visakhapatnam Airport into an international airport. Andhra Pradesh should be provided with more airports with international status, he added.
