Mumbai: Come June 27, Finland’s national carrier, Finnair, will commence its direct Mumbai-Helsinki flights. “We will connect Mumbai to Europe in the fastest and most convenient service, five times a week with the most competitive return fares,” said Christer Haglund, Senior Vice President (Corporate Communications), Finnair at a press conference in Mumbai.
The flights will be operated using the wide-bodied Airbus 340 aircraft and will serve Indian food.
The airline initially started its India operations with three weekly flights from the national capital, New Delhi, in October 2006.
Terming the Mumbai-Helsinki flights as “environment-friendly”, Haglund said that he referred to the route in those terms since “with a flight time of just over eight hours, there will be no refuelling stops.”
