Flyington Freighters is expected to commence operations next month, offering airfreight services from India to destinations throughout Europe, West Asia and Africa.
The company, based in Hyderabad, initially entered discussions with Boeing for the purchase of freighter aircraft. However, it later switched to Airbus and ordered six A330-200 freighters, which are scheduled for delivery from July 2008 onwards. In the meantime, it will operate using two leased aircraft from Airbus.
The A330-200F is a derivative of the A330/A340 family, which has sold more than 1000 aircraft worldwide and has around 100 customers and operators to its credit. It is the first freighter to introduce a main-deck cargo loading system, which can accommodate both pallets and containers, enabling operators to service each of these very different markets.
