Le Bas International plans to focus on the Indian film industry

San Luis Obispo, California: When The Tribune spoke to Tracey Deakin, Chief operating officer of Le Bas International, a worldwide air charter service, in February 2006, hundreds of noteworthy clients — from the Duke of Edinburgh to rapper and music producer Sean “Diddy” Combs—had utilized Le Bas’ air charter services. While corporate and group travel constituted the bulk of business, Le Bas also transported cargo and helped bring airplane parts or crew members to grounded airplanes.
Although San Luis Obispo seemed to be an unlikely place to headquarter such a global, glitzy service, Deakin explained, “Our customers aren’t here, and it’s not really relevant to them where we are located. What is important is that when they pick up to call us, they get a person on the other end of the phone helping them.”
The company leases all sizes of jets, from Cessna Citations to jumbo 747 airliners, from vendors around the globe — depending on where the Le Bas travelers are located and where they need to go.
Now Business is booming, with an expansion plan involving satellite offices in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
The most recent office opened in India. The company plans to focus on the Indian film industry and government contracts. Las Bas will also use the location to develop transportation and charter services in Qatar, a country nearby, Deakin added.
