Chennai: Gammon India Ltd and GMR Infrastructure Ltd are among the over half a dozen of companies in race to bid for the proposed Rs 2,000 crore greenfield international airport which is slated to come up in the outskirts of Chennai. The
Airports Authority of India Ltd (AAI) is expected to call for international competitive bids for the new Chennai airport soon. The state government has already identified 4,820 acres of land in the outskirts of Chennai for the greenfield project.
According to sources in the know, Gammon India through its wholly-owned subsidiary Gammon Infrastructure Projects Ltd is keen to bag the Chennai airport project once the AAI invites bids.
The company, if emerged winner, would develop the airport through special purpose vehicle, which is a 50:50 joint venture between Australia’s Macquarie.
