Jalandhar: The Punjab government has decided to provide 250 acres for setting up of the international airport in Mohali and 40 acres for the expansion of Sahnewal domestic airport.
This was stated by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at a press conference held here today. He was accompanied by Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Gujral, who visited Bishop House today to meet representatives of the Christian community and addressed rallies in support of the SAD-BJP candidates for MC elections.
The CM, however, said proposal of allowing civil flights from Adampur and Halwara Air Force Stations was rejected by the Ministry of Defence on strategic grounds.
While emphasising that infrastructure development in the state was his priority, he said an airport in Bathinda was also being planned and a comprehensive draft was being prepared by the experts to start domestic flights from there.
