Panaji: Goa will not only improve the existing Dabolim airport and build the proposed Mopa airport in Pernem, the state could even have a third airport in South Goa if the need arises with time.
This is the opinion of the Union Civil Aviation Minister, Mr Praful Patel and senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party. Mr Patel had a lunch meeting today with the state cabinet and other important leaders in Goa.
The Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat, the Speaker, Mr Pratapsingh Rane, most cabinet ministers, the NCP executive committee and former MLAs like Ms Nirmala Sawant, Ms Sangeeta Parab, Mr Ramakant Khalap, Mr Jeetendra Deshprabhu, Mr Surendra Sirsat and others were present.
The NCP state president, Dr Wilfred de Souza said Mr Patel was of the view that since Rs 500-crore have already been allotted to the Dabolim airport, it’s improvement will greatly enhance its functioning. Dr de Souza said a new terminal building and a new taxi-track parallel to the runway are just two of the improvements proposed for Dabolim airport.
