Energy Minister criticises Patel for delay in cargo hub

Nagpur: Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Vilas Muttemwar Thursday charged Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel with causing delay in setting up an international passenger and cargo hub in the city.
Muttemwar alleged that Patel was not showing due interest in the development of the region.
Talking to reporters here, he released a copy of a letter written to the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on April 24, 2001 by all members of Parliament from Maharashtra, including Patel, urging the PM to expedite the Cargo Hub project.
But after taking over the Civil Aviation Ministry, Patel has not shown interest in the project, which was hampering the overall growth and development of Vidarbha, Muttemwar said.
Contrary to his stand, the civil aviation ministry, in an affidavit filed before the Nagpur bench of Maharashtra High Court, took a different stand and sent additional solicitor general of India to question the jurisdiction and authority of the bench, he alleged.
