Petaling Jaya: India’s Jet Airways will host its own travel fair just two days after the three-day Matta Fair ends on Sept 9.
The fair, from Sept 11 to 13 at the Bangsar Shopping Centre in Kuala Lumpur, will give discounts on packages and tickets to India and beyond. Part of the attraction is six free tickets to be given away during that period.
Country manager for Malaysia Kavin Martinus said the 10 appointed travel agents would offer good bargains.
The Incredible India Travel Fair is a joint effort with India Tourism.
The airline, which has operated daily flights from Kuala Lumpur to Chennai for two years, has recorded load factors averaging 80%. Jet Airways, which currently uses a B737 for the route, plans to upgrade to the bigger A330 by January 2008.
Mumbai is another destination that the carrier intends to fly to from Kuala Lumpur.
The original plan was to begin flying there early this year but it has been delayed. Martinus said the new deadline was early January.
Chennai, according to Martinus, remains a robust destination for Jet Airways.
