Boeing finalizes Jet Airways 737 order

Seattle: Boeing Co. said Tuesday it got an order from Indian carrier Jet Airways for 20 737-800 aircraft.
The deal is worth $1.5 billion at list prices, Boeing said. Airlines, however, often negotiate hefty discounts.
Mumbai-based Jet Airways, which launched service in 1993, already operates 50 Boeing 737s. It offers about 340 daily flights within India and to a handful of Asian and Western countries.
The short to medium-range 737 is Boeing's best-selling airplane. Next-generation models, beginning with the 737-600 series, have features that are designed to cut fuel costs, extend the plane's range and hauling capacity, and reduce maintenance costs.
