New Delhi: A day after a Jet Airways flight carrying the Australian and Indian cricket teams was forced to return to make an emergency landing at Nagpur minutes after takeoff due to a bird hit , two more planes faced a similar fate on Tuesday. This time both flights were ex-Jaipur.
In the first incident, another Jet flight returned to Jaipur's Sanganer airport shortly after it took off for Mumbai, following a bird hit. The other incident involved a SpiceJet Jaipur-Mumbai flight.
"After landing in Mumbai at 11.35 am, a light on the wing was found to be broken. This is being considered as a suspect case of bird hit," said a Mumbai airport official.
The Jet flight 9W340 from Jaipur to Mumbai via Udaipur, carrying 85 passengers and eight crew members, was hit by a bird shortly after take-off on Tuesday morning.
The pilot immediately informed the air traffic control (ATC) in Jaipur and made an emergency landing at 7.55 am.
The aircraft was thoroughly inspected after landing but no damage to the engines was discovered. Finally, the flight took off at 11.10 am, a little over three hours after the emergency landing.
