Abbotsford airport is flying high after receiving a top rating in an international customer service satisfaction survey.
YXX was surveyed in the Airport Service Quality survey, released this week from Airports Council International.
Abbotsford airport scored an impressive 4.49 in “overall satisfaction with airport,” on a rating scale of excellent (5) to poor (1).
YXX scored highest in the areas of safety and security, ease of navigating through the airport, walking distance inside the terminal, cleanliness, courtesy and helpfulness of employees.
Starting Monday, Abbotsford airport will welcome BC West Air, offering mid-island service to Nanaimo with flights three days a week.
BC West Air will travel on Monday, Thursday and Friday with an optional Saturday service, beginning Oct. 15.
The airline offers three flights each of those days into Abbotsford on morning, mid-day and afternoon schedules.
The flights are timed for easy connections to daily WestJet flights to Edmonton and Calgary, as well as the weekly charter flights to Mexico. BC West will also have a mid-day flight to Victoria from Abbotsford on those days, a press release stated.
Looking to the future, Pastro is hoping to add several new destinations to YXX.
Talks are also underway regarding routes that would provide connections to destinations abroad, including service to Amritsar, India.
Two sun destination charters, Sunwing and Air Transat, are booking flights for December. Sunwing departs Fridays for Cancun; and Air Transat Saturdays for Puerto Vallarta.
A record total of 502,634 passengers passed through Abbotsford airport in 2006.
