First charter flight to land at Dabolim on 11

Vasco: The first charter flight for this season will be arriving from Frankfurt- Germany on October 11 at 5 a.m., carrying around 220 passengers.
As the Dabolim airport has been thrown open for 24 hours from October 15, over 26 lakh domestic as well as international tourists are expected to visit Goa during this tourist season.
The director of Airport Authority of India, Mr D Paul Manickam informed that the Airport Authority of India has mobilised the necessary manpower for the season.
“The AAI has introduced a new schedule and increased around 100 security personnel and 25 additional airport staff. The airlines staff, immigration staff and state police have also been increased during this season,” he added.
Mr Manickam informed that there are six chartered flights expected to land at the Dabolim airport in a day. “However, on Fridays and Sundays the number of arriving flights may increase to 15,” he added.
The AAI director said that around 12 lakh domestic tourists and 4 lakh international tourists arrived in 2005-06.
