Hyderabad: Permanent Lok Adalat for Public Utility Services (PLPUS), Hyderabad, has asked Air-India to pay a compensation of Rs 21, 500 to a student, Sumohita Volety, for the delay in her flight to US. Volety missed her orientation programme at St Louis University in Missouri in US due to the delayed flight.
Sumohita Volety, 18, bought Rs 46,000 worth tickets to fly to the US. She was to fly from Hyderabad to Mumbai, then further to Newark and then on to St Louis. On January 11, she was to fly out of Hyderabad by a 4.45 am (Flight AI 827) to Mumbai to catch a connecting flight, but the flight arrived late and she missed her onward flight to US.
Her father wrote a letter to the Air India, Hyderabad, area manager complaining about the ‘tension’ and ‘physical strain’ due to non-cooperation of Air-India staff. He also asked for compensation.
