Dubai: Delhi-bound passengers were left frustrated at Dubai airport on Sunday following a 12-hour delay, a lack of cheap hotel accommodation and shortage of airline ground staff on hand to answer queries.
About 200 passengers booked on Air India flight 746 to Delhi vented their fury at not being kept informed about the flight schedule. Their flight was grounded due to a technical fault.
Ramachandran, an Air India official, told Gulf News all passengers were given hotel accommodation except those with expired visas.
Meanwhile the All India Airport Users' Forum (AIAUF) has decided to conduct an intensive awareness campaign in Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi for air travellers about international air travel rules and the rights of passengers.
Experts from the travel and airline industry will join members of the legal profession in addressing the audience.
The decision follows frequent flight cancellations and rescheduling at short notice at Calicut and other Indian airports.
