Members of the Kerala community in the UAE have started a petition campaign against the allegedly poor and callous treatment by public carriers such as Air India and Indian Airlines at the Kozhikode airport in Kerala, India.
The campaign, initiated by Dubai-based Hit FM on November 28, urges members of the UAE’s Malayalee community to sign a petition form and drop in boxes placed at many places around the country.
At the end of the campaign on December 9, all the signed petition forms will be collected and sent to the Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh, said Ajith Menon, head of programming, Hit FM.
He added: "We want the authorities to sit up and take notice of the problems faced by people who contribute so much to the economy of the state by repatriating money and yet are treated so badly.
