Land for Dibrugarh runway extension cleared

Dibrugarh: The vexed issue of defence land for extension of the runway at the Dibrugarh Airport at Mohanbari was resolved today at a high level meeting in New Delhi. Informing this, Dibrugarh MP Sarbananda Sonowal said today's meeting was chaired by Union Minister of State for Defence, Palam Raju. The meeting decided that the defence authority would lease out the required land to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on short term lease.
The Dibrugarh Airport is being upgraded at a cost of Rs 55 crore, with the works including a new terminal building and runway extension with night landing facilities. The entire works are scheduled to be over by December next year.
