Airports alerted across UP

Lucknow: A high alert has been sounded across all airports in Uttar Pradesh following fresh intelligence inputs of a terror strike on the lines of Kandhar hijacking. Once bitten twice shy, the security agencies in the state this time are leaving no stone unturned to eliminate all possibilities of a terror strike, especially after the attack on the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Group Centre (GC) at Rampur.
After a foiled attempt to hold hostage, the All India Congress Party national general secretary Rahul Gandhi - which was grounded with the arrest of three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) fedayeens (suicide bombers) by the Special Task Force (STF) in Lucknow in November, the terror outfits are now believed to be planning another attempt to rescue some of their important leaders lodged in different jails across India. The arrested fedayeen had revealed during interrogation that the plan was to hold Rahul hostage and demand release of 45 LeT points men lodged in jails.

On the basis of this lead, the intelligence agencies have sounded a high alert across all airports, especially in Uttar Pradesh.
