Hyderabad: APCO has proposed to open it outlets at Hyderabad and Chennai airports soon. The A.P. State Handloom Weaver’s Co-operative Society Limited (APSHWCSL) has already approached the Centre for allocation of space at the airports. A requisition to this effect was sent to the Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel and Airports Authority of India (AAI) last year and the clearance is expected by March, said the Society chairman G. Jagannadham. The Society wants to expose APCO fabrics to international market and these outlets at airports are expected to provide ideal platform. Once the AAI Security Department approves the proposal, all other formalities, including payment of rent, etc. will be finalised. “We have asked them to allocate a shop space on government rates (nearly Rs. 30,000 per month) but they are insisting on commercial rates which can be much higher. We are negotiating,” said Mr. Jagannadham.
