Greater Noida airport to bag Rs 170 cr revenue

New Delhi: The civil aviation ministry is looking forward to generate a revenue of nearly Rs 170 crore from the proposed Greater Noida International Airport by 2011.
According to the aviation ministry sources, the cabinet proposal which has been made in this regard on the viability of the airport, assesses that by 2038, this figure could reach Rs 2,187 crore.
The Greater Noida project has faced objections from the Union finance and law ministries on its financial viability.
“All speculations that the Greater Noida Airport is not feasible and won’t serve any purpose are erroneous. We’ve already backed the projected revenue figures and, from the day it is operational, the revenues will grow,” said a senior civil aviation ministry official.
The civil aviation ministry recently agreed to clear the formalities within the next three months.
