Nagpur: As many as four low-cost airliners are all keen to link the state's winter capital Nagpur to Pune.
Sources said that SpiceJet, Go Air, Simplifly Deccan (earlier Air Deccan) and even Air India Express are all set to introduce flights on Pune and other sectors from Nagpur. Passengers will soon enjoy the lowest airfare in affordable flights on much-awaited and much in-demand flights Nagpur-Pune sector too, a senior airport official said while talking to TOI. The airlines are targeting about 2000 to 2500 passengers who travel on Pune route daily either by private buses or by railways.
Vipul Gupt of Airpassengers Association of India said the IT industry and education industry are booming in Pune and Nagpur. "Airliners can generate good load factor if they start flights just like flights on Nagpur-Mumbai sector," he said.
With IndiGo airlines and JetLite (earlier Air Sahara) that are already operating flights on Pune sector and receiving expected response from passengers, the other low–cost airliners are keen to start flights to meet the increasing demand of passengers, sources added.
