New Delhi: After tying up with Lufthansa Technic for an MRO at its upcoming airport in Hyderabad, infrastructure major GMR is going to offer an aircraft repair facility for airlines at Delhi’s IGI airport also.
The GMR-backed Delhi International Airport (P) Ltd (DIAL) has received requests from almost all airlines for "captive MROs" in which the consortia would provide space for building hangars where repairs would be carried out.
The facility in Hyderabad is for base maintenance in which aircraft have to undergo checks and repairs that can take up to three months. Lufthansa Technic is providing the support for providing both airframe and engine repairs. Currently all planes go abroad for base checks.
