The delegations of the Government of India and the Aeronautical Authorities of the Government of the Sultanate of Oman met in New Delhi on 29-30 January 2008 to discuss matters relating to operation of air services.
While agreeing on designation of multiple airlines both sides also decided to enhance the existing traffic entitlement to 11,550 seats per week in each direction with immediate effect. For the Sultanate of Oman - Bangalore and Calicut have been included as an additional point of call besides Mumbai, New Delhi, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Jaipur The request of the Omani side to grant Mangalore as an additional point of call in India will be considered only after Mangalore is declared an International Airport. For India the points of call in Oman are Muscat and Salalah.
The designated airlines of the Sultanate of Oman can use any point an ‘intermediate points’ or ‘beyond points’ but without fifth freedom traffic rights. The designated Indian carriers can use any points in Asia including points in UAE, Qatar and Bahrain as ‘intermediate points’ and any point in Europe, North America and Asia including points in UAE, Qatar and Bahrain as ‘beyond points’.
With the overall entitlement of 11,550 seats, the designated airlines of Bahrain shall operate not more than fourteen frequencies/ 2,156 seats per week to Mumbai, seven frequencies/ 1,078 seats per week to New Delhi, seven frequencies/1,078 seats per week to Kochi, seven frequencies/1,078 seats per week to Thiruvananthapuram, seven frequencies/1,078 seats per week to Hyderabad, seven frequencies/1,078 seats per week to Lucknow, six frequencies/924 seats per week to Jaipur and six frequencies/924 seats per week to Bangalore.
Both sides have decided to free up all limitations on the cargo services. There will be no restrictions in terms of frequency and point of call for operating cargo services.
