Govt revises Air services agreement with Bahrain

The delegations of the Government of India and the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain met in New Delhi on 29-30 January 2008 to review the Bilateral Air Services Agreement between the two countries.
While agreeing on designation of multiple airlines both sides also decided to enhance the existing traffic entitlement to 11,500 seats per week in each direction with immediate effect. For the Kingdom of Bahrain Hyderabad has been included as an additional point of call besides Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Kochi and Kolkata. The designated carriers of India for Bahrain can use any points in Asia including points in UAE Oman and Qatar as ‘intermediate points’ and any points in Europe, North America, Asia including points in UAE, Oman and Qatar as ‘beyond points’.
With the overall entitlement of 11,500 seats, the designated airlines of Bahrain shall operate not more than seven services per week each to/from Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and not less than two services per week to – Kolkata.
Both sides have decided to free up all limitations on the cargo services. There will be no restrictions in terms of frequency and point of call for operating cargo services.
With the successful conclusion of this agreement airline of both sides will be able to add new services on the Indian- Bahrain route, which will be in the interest of the travelers.
