FAST organises seminar on managing safety in civil aviation

New Delhi: The Foundation for Aviation and Sustainable Tourism (FAST) recently organised a seminar titled 'FAST growing civil aviation: Managing safety' at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The event was attended by industry experts such as Kanu Gohain, Director General Civil Aviation, Sidhanta Sharma, Chairman, SpiceJet, VP Agarwal, Member Planning, Airports Authority of India, Andrew Harrison, Chief Operating Officer IGI Airport, AK Chopra Joint DGCA, Capt. JS Dillion, Vice President (Ops), SpiceJet, BK Joshi, Secretary General, FAST and others.
Secretary Civil Aviation, Ashok Chawla, in his inaugural address, emphasised that there has been exponential growth in the Indian Civil Aviation sector in the recent past. The domestic passenger traffic grew from 32.67 million in 2006 to 43.29 million in 2007, registering a growth of 32.51 per cent.
After the inaugural session, a technical session was dedicated to discuss difficulties experienced by general aviation/non-scheduled aircraft operators, small private licensed airports and helicopters operators. The session was chaired by Arun Misra, Joint Secretary Civil Aviation.
