More seats on AIE flights

Thiruvananthapuram : Air India Express, the no-frills airline of the national carrier Air India, is set to enhance capacity on its flights from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport to the Gulf countries by 53 per cent.
“AIE will be operating 11 dedicated flights from the international airport to various destinations in the Gulf from February 18,” says Vasudevan Thulasidas, Chairman and Managing Director of National Aviation Company Limited, which manages Air India.
The flights will make travel more comfortable and less time consuming as the flights will operate directly to the destinations in Gulf countries, Mr. Thulasidas who was here in the capital recently told The Hindu.
With effect from February 18, the total number of seats on the AIE flights from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport to the Gulf countries will go up from the present 1530 to 2395 seats. However, the biggest set back is the reduction in the number of AIE flights from Thiruvananthapuram to Nedumbaserry and Karipur. The number of weekly flights will come down from 12 to four, airline sources said.
