Chennai: A Sri Lankan national carrying an Indian passport was detained at Chennai Airport last night.
Official sources said that Nakkeeran (40) had come to board a Jetlite flight to Colombo when immigration officials, on suspicion, questioned him and found he was a Sri Lankan national, based on his Tamil accent.
Wondering how he could hold an Indian passport, which was issued to him in 2001, Immigration officials later handed over him to the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the city police.
The sources also said he had visited various countries using the passport from 2001 till date. His passport had a Chennai address, they added.
