New Delhi: The strike by airport workers across the country continues for the second day on Thursday.
The talks between the Airport Employees union and the Civil Aviation Ministry remained inconclusive. But there are no reports of flight delays from any airport.
The Calcutta airport terminals are in a mess. Water supply has still not been reconnected. Since Wednesday, there is only partial lighting inside the lounge area. However, support services elsewhere are right now unaffected. These include baggage handling, washroom cleaning, and general airport hygiene.
That holds valid for most airports including Delhi domestic, Mumbai and Hyderabad. In Delhi, all morning flights are running on time, none have been affected by the strike, the private consortium running the airport, GMR, has hired a private contractor to carry out cleaning inside the airport.
