Man held for forging stamp on passport

Mumbai: Sahar airport police arrested one Uday Bipin Patel (45), a businessman from Bandra, for trying to leave the country for Israel by forging a ‘departure’ stamp on his passport on March 17 and trying to avoid immigration check.
“The arrested accused is a businessman dealing in exporting of readymade garments. According to the airport authorities who handed over Patel to the police, he was trying to travel from Mumbai to Israel on a flight (CY072) at 7.30 am on March 17. When the airport authorities went through his passport, they discovered that his passport was fraudulently stamped,” said Senior Police Inspector Dilip Patil from Sahar airport police station.
The police further discovered that Patel had visited South Africa in 2007 on another passport, issued by South Africa. But he had returned to India on his Indian passport. He used the Indian passport on this occasion and stamped it fraudulently. The police are checking if Patel’s South African passport is fake.
