Strong winds hit flight schedules

Delhi: Strong winds on Wednesday evening led to a severe disruption in flight schedules as aircraft could not land at IGI Aiport. At least, two flights had to be diverted to Jaipur while several planes hovered in the air for over an hour.
According to sources, weather conditions started deteriorating from about 7pm onwards due to which flights were unable to land. This caused a major chaos in the air. "Aircraft were not able to stay on course for landing due to the strong winds. Several of them had to remain air-borne. Till as late as 11:30 pm, there was no change in the situation,"said sources at the airport.
However, landings and take-offs were not stopped completely. One flight had to be given priority to land since it was running low on fuel. The two flights that were diverted to Jaipur reportedly belong to Spice Jet and Jet Airways.
For passengers in the air at that time the experience was nightmarish.
