After the Tatas, it may now be the turn of the Kalyanis to strike a relation with an iconic brand! Bharat Forge is in talks with Rolls Royce, the aviation engine maker, for a possible alliance as part of its focus on growing the non-automotive business.
The Indian aviation sector is buying aircraft worth USD 5 billion every year and that's where Bharat Forge says it sees business, thanks to the offset clause, that makes it mandatory for foreign companies to share a part of the order with Indian companies. So, expect some sort of an alliance for Bharat Forge during this year and that could even be with Rolls Royce!
Baba Kalyani, CMD, Bharat Forge, said, "Fundamentally, we are focusing on signing up offset agreements. So we are in discussions with manufacturers and engine manufacturers. For offsets, they need hardware. Aircraft has lot of forgings. Can't see anybody else being in this activity."
