Bharat Petroleum joins hands with STAR, will service BIAL

New Delhi: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. has entered into a Joint Venture (JV) with Singapore based S T Airport Services Pte. Ltd. (STARS) on a 50-50 equity partnership to form a new company Bharat Star Services Pvt. Ltd. (BSSPL). The new company won the tender to become the first `Service Provider Right Holder (SPRH) for Into-Plane Services at Bangalore International Airport Ltd. (BIAL). The airport is scheduled to commence operations from May 11, 2008.
Talking exclusively with TravelBiz Monitor, S P Mathur, Head-Aviation Strategic Business Unit, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. said, “The double digit growth in Indian aviation industry along with consolidation in domestic airlines segment, privatisation of airports, new Greenfield airports, etc. brings out both challenges and opportunities for us. BSSPL is geared to meet the growing demands and provide safe, efficient and timely service to our esteemed airline customers.” Trial operations have already started at the new Bangalore Airport and a BSSPL dispenser is already operational on the tarmac at BIAL.
