New Delhi: The Deccan-Kingfisher combine may become eligible to fly abroad from August 26 but a majority of their new flights would begin from November onwards. Airline officials recently went to the aviation ministry with their flight wish list but were told to prune the same.
The reason — the combine will be launching its flights at the fag end of summer schedule period that is effective from April to November. They were told that only a 'realistic' number can be accommodated mid-schedule and that the airline combine should eye the winter schedule from November for their full fledged service.
As a result, Kingfisher's non-stop India-US flights — Bangalore — San Francisco and Bangalore -New York — are likely to begin in winter schedule. A senior airline official who attended this meeting said, "We had presented an exhaustive list covering almost all the cities we plan to link in India and abroad. The government asked us if we actually intended to fly to between so many places as an airline can lose a route for two years if it does not operate on it after being awarded the same."
