NEW DELHI: Low cost carrier Air Deccan has been asked by a Delhi Consumer court to pay Rs 65,000 to a passenger, who, along with her family members, could not attend her daughter's marriage ceremony in northeast as the airline cancelled the flight.
"Complainant's father is about 80 years old and is not able to walk. So is the case with her mother. On account of acts of omissions and commissions of the airline, she has to suffer emotionally," the Delhi District Consumer Forum President V K Gupta said.
Holding the airline guilty for committing "gross deficiency of service" and "unfair trade practice", the forum comprising G S Chaturvedi and Devinder Raheja as members said, "The complainant and her family members had suffered a lot of mental pain, agony and emotional harassment due to cancellation of flight".
Manju Kochhar, who had booked 10 tickets from Delhi to Bagdogra, was informed of termination of flight on reaching Guwahati on February three, last year.
