Air India cancels flight from Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: Air India on Wednesday cancelled its direct flight from Ahmedabad to London saying there was restriction on the runway here due to expansion work undertaken by the airport authorities, sources said. "We had cancelled the flight AI 133 which was scheduled for departure today at 1035 hrs because of runway restriction due to expansion work on the runway undertaken by the airport authorities," an Air India official said.
"Moreover, the wind speed in the city has gone up since last few days making the conditions unfavourable for take-off and landing. So, as a precaution we cancelled the direct flight," the official further said.
Some passengers complained that they were not informed about the cancellation of the flight and claimed that the flight was cancelled because it was under booked.
"We had informed all the passenger, with proper contact details, before hand, and asked them to board a 0710 hrs Indian flight to Mumbai. From there they will board a flight to London," the Air India official claimed.
