Dream to settle in USA crashes at airport

Kolkata: A diploma engineer in electricals, Ms Dimple Rashik Bhai Patel (23), wanted to settle in Portland, USA, but she has landed in Kolkata police's custody late last night.
Ms Patel was arrested just before boarding an international flight from Kolkata airport when immigration officials caught her travelling on a false passport.
Mr Basab Talukdar, DC (security control), said today that she was travelling with the passport bearing the name of Rina Tahir Bhatia and was to fly on a Lufthansa flight from Kolkata. During check at NSC Bose Airport immigration officials detected the fraud and it was found that the passport originally belonged to a person who is a resident of Surat.
During interrogation Ms Patel, a resident of Ahmedabad, said that her father had entered into a contract with one Vinod Bhai that the later would receive Rs 7 lakh for escorting her to Portland. Accordingly Rs 1 lakh was paid and Vinod Bhai took her to Mumbai, gave her the passport and later they came to Kolkata on 13 May.
After arriving at the airport the man disappeared and Ms Patel during immigration check was held. She was later handed over to police. Mr Talukdar added that the passport also had the stamp of one year US residency that is genuine.
