J B Aviation plans to start scheduled chopper service

Bangalore: Coimbatore based JB Aviation is planning to launch scheduled chopper services in South India and has acquired land for a helipad in Ooty. The company, which is awaiting approval from The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), is planning to start the service to Kodaikanal with one helicopter by September. DGCA is expected to conduct the second round of inspection by end of this month. The company will simultaneously launch the service in Madurai, for which land has been given by government of Tamil Nadu and in Puducherry where it will tie-up with the government and operate from the existing airport. JB Aviation will increase its fleet strength over a period of time. The company will meet the Tourism Minister of Puducherry to ask for subsidies granted to companies wanting to start chopper services.J B Aviation plans to market itself as a scheduled cost-effective chopper service for corporates, families and couples. Companies such as Vodafone, Nokia and Subhiksha Mobiles have evinced interest in hiring these choppers.
