Lufthansa rolls out its India plans for 2008

Mumbai: Lufthansa German Airlines announced its expansion plans for India at a press conference in Mumbai earlier today. The airline, which had announced the introduction of Pune as a new destination last month is planning to operate six flights a week on the Pune-Frankfurt route starting from July 1, 2008. The route will be serviced by an Airbus A319, offering 48 seats in an all Business Class configuration. It is also increasing frequency on all existing routes in India. The airline will increase flights on Kolkata-Frankfurt route from three to five flights a week from June 3, 2008 and by October this year, the airline will offer double daily flights from Mumbai to Germany (seven flights each on Mumbai-Frankfurt and Mumbai-Munich route). Together with Swiss International Airlines, Lufthansa will offer 68 flights from India to Europe via Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich this summer.
The airline currently offers flights between Delhi – Frankfurt, Delhi – Munich, Mumbai – Frankfurt, Chennai – Frankfurt, Bangalore – Frankfurt, Hyderabad – Frankfurt and Kolkata – Frankfurt. In addition, its’ partner Swiss International airlines offers flights on Delhi – Zurich and Mumbai – Zurich route.
