Rain brings cheer to Delhi, chaos at airport

New Delhi: A cloudy sky and light rain brought relief to the capital Monday from the searing heat, but the strong winds caused disruption of nearly two dozen flights.
According to the India Meteorological Department, the city recorded nearly 1 mm of rainfall in the evening, bringing down the maximum temperature to 36.8 degrees Celsius, a whopping six degrees less than Sunday.
“After the rain Delhi recorded a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius at 8.30 p.m. We are expecting the Tuesday temperature to revolve round 39 degrees Celsius,” an IMD official told IANS.
