Activists bring Sir MV’s signboard to airport

Mysore: High drama prevailed outside the Mysore airport at Mandakalli in Mysore on Thursday, as a few activists from the Citizens Forum and Kannada Vedike stormed the venue to install a signboard bearing the name of engineer and former Dewan of Mysore Sir M Visvesvaraya.
The activists were urging the district administration and the Airport Authority of India(AAI) to name the Mysore airport after the famous engineer.On Thursday, the activists, led by chairman of the Institution of Engineers and ACICM convenor M Lakshmana, carried a signboard to install.
Tension prevailed for some time when a team from Mysore rural police, which was already stationed at the site, prevented the activists from installing the board.
AAI senior manager Rajiv Gupta also visited the spot and tried to convince the protesters. He clarified that he or any official had no objection to name the Airport after Sir M Visvesvaraya.
