Kozhikode: Oman Air, national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman launched its services as part of the airline's route expansion plans.
`With a current capacity of 61 flights a week, spread across Mumbai, New Delhi, Kochi, Hyderabad,Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai, Lucknow and Jaipur, the addition of Kozhikode will be the ninth destination in India', Mohammad Salim, Oman Air's Country Manager, told a press meet here.
Offering daily services, Oman Air's maiden flight, with 154 passengers on board, left from the Karipur international airport here at 7.30 am, he said.
The Civil Aviation authorities in the Sultanate and India had also agreed on liberalising cargo flights to allow more air carriers in both countries to operate unlimited number of cargo flights, he said.
The airline also offered special tour packages for Keralites, who visited the Gulf in large numbers, Abdulrazaq Al Raisi, Senior Manager, Sales, said.
