Dragonair, a full service carrier based in Hong Kong, commenced operations today with non-stop daily flights between Hong Kong and Bengaluru. Its maiden flight landed at 0118 hours on 2 July, and was greeted with much fanfare at the Bengaluru International Airport.
Dragonair is the sister airline of Cathay Pacific Airways, they together operate 35 flights from India. Cathay Pacific has recently added 20 new flights a week including new services from Chennai, making a total of 28 flights a week from India to Hong Kong
Subsequent to the bilateral agreements announced earlier this year, Cathay Pacific and Dragonair seized the golden opportunity to increase and enhance services to India. Dragonair's commencement of a daily service to Bengaluru indicates the continuing commitment of the Cathay Pacific Group to India, said Mr Tom Wright, General Manager, India, Middle East Africa and Pakistan, Cathay Pacific.
Dragonair's first flight from Bengaluru to Hong kong departed at 0235 hours today. The first flight was inaugurated at Bengaluru International Airport on July 1. Among the dignitaries present were Mr Albert Brunner, CEO, Bengaluru International Airprot Limited (BIAL), Mr. Marcel Hungerbuehler, COO, BIAL, Mr Vertul Singh, CISF Chief Commandant and Mr Aditya Atal, Vice President, Spencers Travel Services Ltd.
