Era in talks with global players to enter airport upgrade biz

New Delhi: "We plan to bid for airport construction and upgradation work and are talking to a few global companies to form a consortium to bid for projects," Era Group Chairman H S Bharana said.
While Era will construct runways and the airport building, the foreign partner will manage the airport. "Since we do not have experience in running airports, we are looking for a partner which has been managing projects," he said.
The government plans to revamp 35 non-metro airports, including Udaipur, Amritsar, Thiruvananthapuram, Nagpur, Indore, Trichy and Coimbatore, through private participation route.
Without naming the companies he is talking to, Bharan said he is looking at the all these projects and would bid for the appropriate ones.
Earlier this year, Germany-based Fraport AG and Genting (Singapore) Pte Ltd bid for the Amritsar airport while Changi bid for both Amritsar and Udaipur projects in association with Indian partners.
