Jet Airways, India’s premier airline, has emerged triumphant as India’s ‘Airline with the Best Business Class’ and ‘Airline with the Best Economy Class’ categories for its outstanding domestic Première and Economy Class products, at the prestigious CNBC-Awaaz Travel Awards 2008.
The awards were given away at a glittering event in Mumbai on July 3, 2008, by the Union Minister of Travel and Culture, Mrs. Ambika Soni. Jet Airways was represented at the event by its Chairman, Mr. Naresh Goyal, who accepted the awards on behalf of the Jet Airways family.
Commenting on the honour, Mr. Goyal said, “From its very inception, Jet Airways has been committed to setting new standards of service excellence in the Indian skies. Despite our aggressive international expansion, we have continued to focus on the domestic market, with these awards standing testimony to the excellence of our in-flight product and service. I would like to take this opportunity to dedicate this award to the Jet Airways family, without whose unceasing effort and dedication this would not have been possible”.
In a move to introduce more legroom and boost passenger comfort, Jet Airways is in the process of progressively removing an entire row of seats in both Première and Economy classes across all Boeing 737-800 aircraft flying on its domestic routes.
These awards are the latest in a long line of awards that the airline has received in recent times.
In June 2008, Jet Airways was honoured at the annual Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore’s (CAAS) third annual Changi Airline Awards in the ‘Top 5 Airlines by Growth in Passenger Carriage’ and ‘Top 5 Airlines by Growth in Cargo Carriage’ through Changi Airport categories.
Later in the same month, Jet Airways was also recognized for the excellence of its service and in-flight experience, beating several larger and longer-established airlines in the ‘Airline of the Year’ category at the second annual ‘Which?’ Awards, where it was the runner-up, a mere percentage point behind winner Singapore Airlines.
The CNBC-Awaaz Travel Awards honour the best in class travel destinations, organizations and service providers in the tourism industry, based on an objective study conducted by India’s leading research firm, The Nielsen Company.
The awards are based on an exhaustive customer response study, conducted across 12 cities with consumers voting for their choice of travel services and destinations.
