Kolkata: Bomb scare triggerred panic at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) airport and the Howrah railway station here Sunday.
Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) sources said a suitcase was found abandoned at the visitors' lounge in the international terminal of the international airport, sparking tension among the passengers, employees and security personnel.
Bomb squad personnel rushed in and opened up the suitcase, but did not find any explosive substances.
The other incident took place at eastern India's major railhead Howrah station, with an anonymous caller claiming that a live bomb had been kept in a suitcase on platform number two.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and General Railway Police (GRP) immediately conducted a joint search for the suitcase. GRP sources said sniffer dogs were also called in, and commuters asked not to go near the platform.
