Alleged SIMI man detained at airport

Mumbai: Immigration officials at the Mumbai international airport on Saturday, detained a passenger in connection with a blast in the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court in Hubli, Karnataka in May.
The passenger, Iqbal Shaukat Ali (38) is alleged to be a Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) activist, who was allegedly involved in a blast which rocked the Hubli court where terror suspects were being tried, said sources. The bomb, which did not claim any lives as the court was shut that day, was triggered by a remote control device.
Ali, a resident of Belgaum, has been on the immigration lookout list since then. He had fled to Sharjah soon after his name emerged as one of the major suspects. Immigration officials detained him on his way back to the airport and handed him over to the local police. He was handed over to the Belgaum police on Sunday.
