Man arrested in Darwin for child porn

An Indian national has been arrested at Darwin airport for allegedly smuggling more than 230 images of child pornography and bestiality into Australia.
The 27-year-old was stopped by customs officers after he arrived on a flight from Singapore on Thursday.
During a baggage search, officers found more than 230 DVDs and CDs containing child pornography and bestiality, Customs said in a statement.
The DVDs, CDs and a laptop were seized for further examination.
Customs investigators arrested the Indian national and charged him with the importation of goods in contravention of customs regulations.
The maximum penalty for the offence is $275,000 and/or 10 years imprisonment.
The arrest prompted the national manager of Customs investigations, Richard Janeczko, to warn travellers that his team was committed to stopping the importation of child pornography.
