Mumbai: A passenger travelling from Nairobi to the city died on board an Air India (AI) flight on Thursday morning after she suffered a heart attack.
Sunita Patel (35), who was travelling on AI flight 200, died just 20 minutes before the plane landed in the city. She was accompanied by her husband, Deepak Patel, an Ahemdabad-based businessman.
Soon after landing, she was declared dead by the airport doctor. Her body was sent for post-mortem, which declared it a case of "natural death.'' She suffered from chronic pulmonary embolism, pericardial effusion with hypertension.
Patel, who had not been keeping well for some time now, had complained of uneasiness 30 minutes before landing. She went to the washroom and returned to her seat feeling giddy. "Shortly, she breathed her last. The plane was still in motion when she died,'' said Dilip Patil, senior inspector, Sahar police station.
